I have at various points tried to write a blog containing my musings around various topics, everything from Fencing, to Software Development and Search. I have decided to give it another try!

My aim with this blog is to write down my thoughts around various topics and subjects I am currently interested in, this could be anything from Software Engineering, Software Architecture, Data Management, Field Archery, Online Gaming, Camping and Self-Hosted Smart Home tech. You may even find a tutorial or two in amongst this,

I have worked in the tech industry full-time for 11 years, 13 years in total. I have spent those 13 years doing a variety of roles, but most have focussed around software engineering (I include data engineering in that). I have a true passion for software engineering and software architecture, the correct approach can make or break a product/app and the correct approach reduces the burden of maintenance.

My smart home project has been ongoing for several years now, it started as a Raspberry PI next to my router and soon grew to an actual server (Dell R210 for anyone interested).
